Rationale for the Political Cartoon:

The main target audience I wanted to address with this political cartoon would be the general public. I want them to see that while medical experts are struggling with this global pandemic in the U.S. Trump is still juggling how the media perceives things and trying to twist the facts by harassing them, harassing other Politicians and calling this corona thing a “hoax”. Like something as serious as this should not be downplayed and it should not be a vehicle for one to take a jab at their political opponents(as we see that Trump uses this issue to ridicule the Democratic party and other critics of his campaign). When asked by doctors, “How do you know so much about this(referring to the coronavirus?”Maybe I have a natural ability,” Mr. Trump said-(Reported by the New York Times). How is the nation supposed to trust a leader who is resting things not really on facts, but on a gut feeling. Well before his presidency Trump has been downplaying science by expressing skepticism of vaccines and suggesting climate change was a hoax by the Chinese Government. He has single-handedly destroyed years of scientific expertise and respect,  the U.S. Government had garnered for themselves. He was slow to react in the early stages of the virus and is still proven to be incompetent. I myself personally witnessed on live TV of him suggesting if there was possibly a way to inject disinfectants into our bodies to somehow kill off the virus, laughable as it seems, as a President one should not be saying these ridiculous things. Due to this issue some people were sent to hospitals for consumption of these disinfectants. Similarly as reported by The New York times, “Rick Bright was dismissed as the director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, the agency involved in work on coronavirus treatments. Mr. Bright said he had been removed after urging caution in expanding access to hydroxychloroquine, the controversial treatment embraced by Mr. Trump.
